The images in this installment of Projected represent the work of the recipients of the International Center of Photography’s 35th annual Infinity Awards, a leading honor for excellence in the photographic field. The Awards honor the significant talents of those using photography, writing, and visual arts to make an impact. In a relentless news cycle and a climate where journalists are under attack, this is the right moment to celebrate the important work of those who harness the power of images to help inform our understanding of the world. The event is ICP’s largest fundraiser and benefits its education and exhibition programs.
The 2019 Infinity Award winners include:
- Lifetime Achievement: Rosalind Fox Solomon
- Art: Dawoud Bey
- Critical Writing and Research: Zadie Smith, “Deana Lawson’s Kingdom of Restored Glory” for the New Yorker; excerpted from Deana Lawson: an Aperture Monograph (September 2018)
- Emerging Photographer: Jess T. Dugan
- Special Presentation: Shahidul Alam
How to View
During the day, the installment can be viewed on monitors inside the ICP Museum and during evening hours, images are literally “projected” onto the windows of the ICP Museum; they can be viewed from the sidewalk outside the Museum and are most visible after sunset. Learn more about Projected.
